CONFERENCES

1. Annual Polish Limnological Conferences

In the years 1997-2011 there were fifteen Annual Polish Limnological Conferences on Natural and Anthropological Transformations of Lakes. They were attended by distinguished specialists from both Poland and abroad. Numerous lectures and talks were delivered, and poster sessions and exhibitions were held. These conferences were organised by the PLS and the following universities and institutions:

  • Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (1997, 2006)
  • Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in Warsaw, Branch in Poznań (1998)
  • University of Gdańsk (1999, 2008)
  • University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (2000)
  • Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (2001, 2011)
  • Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (2002)
  • Jan Kochanowski University of Humanities and Sciences in Kielce (2003)
  • University of Silesia in Katowice (2004, 2005)
  • West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (2007, 2010)

The next 16th International Conference is held in Łagów Lubuski on 19-21 September 2012. The conference is organised by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in Warsaw, Branch in Poznań, the Polish Limnological Society and the Polish Geophysical Society.

Early registration fee (conference materials, accommodation and board) is 900 PLN.

2. Palaeolimnological sessions

The Scientific Palaeolimnological Committee organises scientific sessions devoted to the development and transformations of lakes and peat bogs, among others. The first session was held in Warsaw in 2010, and the second one in Poznań in 2011.
